Fit To Be Tied

Over the past decades, the bow tie, has progressively reestablished itself as mens fashion statement. Sure, naysayers will still voice an opposing viewpoint. However, the well-dressed will always appreciate the classic aesthetics that a bow tie affords. Because, the necktie came precariously close to fashion extinction just as the bow tie once did, but it managed to survive. The bow tie never went out of style, gentlemen just stopped being stylish. Luckily, you are not that guy.

Here's one of the our favorite bow ties of the season. A vibrant pa Paul Stuart  with an understated paisley motif that exudes character without making you out to be one. ($69.50)

Blackberry maker to pullout of consumer market

Faced with declining sales and forth quarter losses of $125 million, Blackberry phone make Research In Motion (RIM) has announced that it is pulling out of the consumer market and focusing more on a corporate only strategy.  From the news report:

The Saguaro Palm Springs

Hip but not hipster, the new Saguaro Palm Springs hotel brings a riot of vibrancy to the muted desert landscape. Opened in February, this former Holiday Inn has undergone a total renovation and shows no hint of its previous incarnation.

The 245 rooms come in 14 sunny color schemes. You can match your room’s color scheme to your mood or the view of your choice, as every guestroom has a balcony looking out over the mountains, town or the Olympic-size pool lined by cabanas. After dark the Saguaro’s scene stays scorching, with restaurants and bars by Iron Chef America’s Jose Garces elevating the local dining scene to hot, tequila-fueled heights.

Five Fat Loss Tips To Get Ready for Summer Now

With spring here and summer approaching fast, the LAST thing you want to do is wait till the last minute to get in shape for the warm weather! Here are 5 Fat Loss Tips to help you Get Ready For Summer NOW.

1. Eliminate Junk Food (Most Of The Time)
You may think this is a no-brainer, but you’ll be surprised at how those few chips, sodas and cookies on a regular basis add up (we just saw a cookie package, and each cookie, about two bites, were packed with 125 calories! Eat 8 and that’s about half your daily calorie intake, 1,000 calories).

Notice that we said to eliminate junk “most of the time.” That’s because allowing it once or twice a week will prevent over-the-top binges. And besides, a loose-eating day, with a higher-calorie jolt, prevents your metabolism from slowing down, so it’s a good thing.

2. Tone Down Alcohol Consumption:
A few beers or stiff drinks every so often won’t hurt, but if you do it regularly, you turn off fat burning. The reason is that your body burns off alcohol first, it becomes your primary energy substrate.

So as you’re burning off the alcohol, what happens to the food you eat? It’s merely surplus calories going directly to fat cells. Not good. That means when you do choose to drink, don’t eat a lot while you indulge.

Discovery Channel to take a hard look at the color of HIV/AIDS

More than thirty years after the first case report of HIV, AIDS remains a significant problem in America.  Despite tremendous advances in testing and treatment, not everyone has benefitted equally.  Discovery Channel takes an in depth look at the color lines of HIV/AIDS in a world premiere documentary HIV/AIDS: AMERICA’S DIVIDE airing Saturday, March 17 at 8am e/p.

Every nine and half minutes someone in the United States is infected with HIV – and chances are that it will be someone of color.  African American represent nearly half of all new cases of HIV, although they represent only 15% of the population. HIV/AIDS: AMERICA’S DIVIDE tells the unheard stories of triumph and tragedy in America’s neighborhoods and spotlights the heroes on the front lines of the fight to prevent and treat the disease.  This compelling look at the new reality of HIV/AIDS exposes the cultural stigmas and social disparities that are widening the gap between who is living and who is dying.

Lacoste Spruces Up Its Polo Shirts

Like most men, you've probably been turning to polos every spring since you were a toddler. So, now's about time to upgrade yours into adult territory. Look for a trim fit, some fun play with color and/or stripes, then go ahead and up the vintage quotient (but, you know, with new pieces) by looking for a contrast collar or some tipped sleeves, like all those tennis players used to wear.

This year Lacoste has spruced up its polo offerings with this L!ve version which has a variance in the stripes adds extra interest to this trim version of the classic (about $98)

Apple introduces iPad3

It's been less than two years since the iPad first landed, but Apple is ready to make the only tablet worth buying even better. Headlining the list of new features on the iPad 3 ($500-$830) is the drool-worthy Retina display, which densely packs in enough pixels that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels when held at a reading distance — you know, like that iPhone 4 in your pocket. The new iPad and that crazy screen is powered by a high performance A5X chip with quad-core graphics (which is still is smart enough to deliver 10 hour battery life). There's also a slick 5 megapixel iSight camera with 1080p HD video recording capability. And for the first time, you can get built-in support for AT&T's and Verizon's 4G LTE networks. Apple also today introduced the iPhoto app, along with major updates to iMovie and GarageBand, completing its suite of iLife apps for iOS. Like always, the latest iPad is available in black or white. It comes in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB capacities. It will be available on March 16th.

Upgrade Your Bathing Suit

Summer, that ninety-four days long expanse between spring and fall is just around the corner.   It's a time when most all of us will be hitting the beach or the pool of some sorts.  With that in mind, it's not too early to thinking about upgrading your current bathing suit.  Here are a few ideas to consider.

Because there may be a certain comfort in those old board shorts, but there ain't a whole lot of style. Here's what to look for in your new suit:

Top: A bolder pattern. Stripes, maybe, or this here paisley. Leave the wearing of solid-blue shorts to the other guys at the pool. By Etro ($275).

Middle: A slightly shorter length than you're used to. We're not talking Speedos here: just a few inches above the knee, eliminating all the extra billowy cloth that bubbles up underwater and takes forever to dry. By Club Monaco ($80).

Bottom: A closer fit that mimics the cut of regular shorts. No weird drawstrings or meshy bulk — just shorts that you can wear all day, in the pool and out. By Orlebar Brown ($350).

Lazerwood Beats Headphone Skin

If the bright colors of Beats' Studio headphones aren't your style and you've grown tired of waiting for a release date — and price — for the stylish Executive model, give this Lazerwood Beats Headphone Skin ($35) a try. Crafted from real wood, the sticker adds a cherry or walnut finish to the outside of the headphones, and can be removed without killing the original paint job. Much classier than just covering them in diamonds — and a helluva lot cheaper, too.
